Our New Babies!
Nemo is a boy (left) Dory is a girl (right).
They are twins born on Friday, June 4th, 2010.
They are just the sweetest things!
We were blessed with them from a close friend on Friday, June 11th. Nemo and Dory's mother got caught up in the recent flood, here in TN. She became ill with a bacterial infection in her udder which made her milk turn green. GREEN! Can you believe it?!? It's so gross! The previous owners didn't have time to take care of them( with 75 other goats on their property). They were praying for the kids to go to a good family, so now we have the joy of bottle feeding them every three to four hours. Trust me trying to roll yourself out of that nice warm bed to go feed some little bitty goats doesn't seem too appealing early in the morning, but seeing their sweet little faces and hearing them talk to each other makes it worth it. Later this year, my eldest daughter, (R2) will be showing them with the local high school FFA. R2 wanted to show goats so badly, but we couldn't afford them. I didn't want to take out a loan for her to show them. In the end, God blessed us with two adorable new pet goats (that act like dogs) for a family of 7 and show goats for my daughter.
These adorable goats will be added to our little farm (I guess that's what you would call it) in our back yard. Currently we have four hens and four roosters (three will soon be dinner), two cats, one dog, and three angel fish. For our standards we also have a pretty impressive little garden. It's been a while since we've had one.
All of this is on one acre in the middle of a subdivision.... well, as long as the neighbors are cool with it ......we are safe. So far things are good...........there won't be too many new additions............of course, I didn't know about the goats until the day we received them.
